Zoladex Injection is used to treat hormone-sensitive conditions. It is a gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) agonist that works by suppressing the production of sex hormones like estrogen and testosterone.
USES:
- Prostate Cancer: Zoladex is used in the treatment of advanced prostate cancer. By lowering testosterone levels, it helps slow the growth of hormone-sensitive prostate cancer cells.
- Breast Cancer: It is also used in certain cases of hormone-receptor-positive breast cancer, particularly in premenopausal women. Zoladex can lower estrogen levels, which can slow or stop the growth of hormone-sensitive breast tumors.
- Endometriosis: Zoladex is used to treat endometriosis by reducing estrogen levels, which helps shrink endometrial tissue and alleviate symptoms like pain.
- Uterine Fibroids: In women with uterine fibroids, Zoladex can reduce the size of fibroids and improve symptoms, especially before surgery.
- Assisted Reproductive Technology: Zoladex is sometimes used in fertility treatments to control ovarian function.
ADMINISTRATION:
Zoladex is typically administered via an injection under the skin (subcutaneous injection).
